DuPont Launches New Czech Republic PVB Plant

Holesov, Czech Republic is the location for DuPont chemical company's new plant for producing Butacite G. Butacite G is DuPont's polyvinyl butyral (PVB) safety interlayers for use in laminated glass. It is manufactured from 100% post-industrial recycled materials and is used in vehicle windshields and to protect photovoltaic solar cells. Sona Krausova, DuPont's Czech division lead, stated, "This new production facility for Butacite G contributes to the economic development of the area and its central location will enable efficient distribution of product throughout Europe."

Since DuPont's Butacite G is made entirely from recycled materials, it will further DuPont's stated goal of developing more environmentally sustainable products. William J. Harvey, President of DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers, said, "This investment demonstrates DuPont's focus on Central and Eastern Europe and supports our commitment to deliver science-based innovations and sustainable solutions for our customers. The patented technology used at this facility enables product waste to be recycled and provides value through its reuse in safety glass interlayers made of 100 percent recycled material."
